Jimmy Little

Jimmy Little (OA) first recorded Royal Telephone way back in 1963. It was a number one hit and became his signature song. As he matured, so did his voice and singing style. This is his first new recording of the song since his original version 46 years ago and shows his warm ‘velvet’ voice together with a very gentle musical backing.

This new version of Royal Telephone by Jimmy Little (OA) was produced by Martin Erdman at Jimmy’s request in 2009, because the way he sang it on stage then was quite different to his 1960’s recording. The soft gentle interpretation of his famous song is a delight to listen to.

My Cathedral, recorded at the same session, is a song that Jimmy had never previously recorded. Both songs feature the Green Valley Youth Choir.

Sadly, this is also the last commercial recording Jimmy made. R.I.P.
