Product Description
Good, happy, ‘foot stomping’ music!
The 69ers were a fun band formed as an acoustic trio by Francis Butler with Mal Hill and Alex Smith in 1969 (of course). Their popularity grew and so did the size of the band. At the time of recording the album, members who joined Francis included Keith Longman, Brian Bethall, Dave Ovendone and Peter Knox. They are all great musicians and singers but didn’t take themselves seriously. Dubbed ‘The Clown Princes of Sunbury’ in January 1973, The 69ers attracted huge crowds at concerts and pubs around Australia and whenever they appeared crowds called out “Play Harry Rag, Play Harry Rag, Play Harry Rag”.
In these days of world financial crisis this is just the sort of fun music we need to take our mind off our problems. This CD contains their signature song ‘Harry Rag’ and 18 more.
